Community consultation on the draft strategy closed on 26 July 2021. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback.

For the latest updates on this project, visit the Nathan, Salisbury, Moorooka Neighbourhood Plan on Council's website.

Brisbane City Council is creating a new neighbourhood plan for Nathan, Salisbury and Moorooka. Neighbourhood plans help guide future development and coordinate land use and infrastructure over a 10-year period and beyond. Once complete, the neighbourhood plan will become part of Brisbane City Plan 2014 (City Plan).

The neighbourhood plan is being developed to ensure the area’s future looks familiar, while planning for the needs of the existing and future community.

Council is working with the local community and businesses to:

  • review the development potential of industrial, commercial and residential areas to facilitate employment growth and enhance liveability
  • capitalise on the significant infrastructure investment, including the world class education and sporting facilities in the area
  • protect character residential areas in key locations
  • protect and enhance the environmental and biodiversity values of Toohey Forest and the area’s creek corridors
  • enhance streetscapes and walkability between major employment areas, residential areas, and public transport.

Draft strategy

The draft strategy was available for community comment from 7 June to 26 July 2021. During this period the project team received surveys, emails, comments on the drop-a-pin map and spoke with residents, owners and businesses. Detailed review of the feedback has now commenced.

Character housing protection

over 2 years

This mapping activity was open for consultation on the draft strategy during June-July 2021.

We’re updating protections for character housing in Moorooka and Salisbury. We are looking for 'intact character streetscapes' to protect in the green areas on the map.

We asked you to drop a pin on our map to nominate a streetscape that you think:

  1. should be protected, or continue to be protected (red pin), or
  2. doesn't require protection (blue pin)

What is an intact character streetscape?

An ‘intact character streetscape’ is a street where there are several houses built before 1947 which have traditional character features like traditional timber and tin Queenslanders and 1920s masonry art deco buildings.

To open the mapping activity, select the map or 'Go to Map' button.
