Consultation has concluded
Updated April 2023
Community consultation on the Ashgrove West Village Precinct Project has now concluded. Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback. For the latest updates on this project, visit the Ashgrove West Village Precinct Project page on Council's website.
As part of the Village Precinct Projects (VPP) program, Council has been working with the local community to revitalise the neighbourhood shopping precinct at Ashgrove West, along Waterworks Road.
Council encouraged the community to participate in the planning for the project through two stages of consultation. In late 2019, we invited you to share feedback and ideas for improving the precinct, through onsite information kiosks, an online map and survey. In September 2020, we released a concept design and invited further community feedback, again through information kiosks, an online map and survey.
The feedback received from the community highlighted the need to improve:
planting, shade and greenery
spaces to sit or stay
overall streetscape amenity
safety and ease of travel around the centre
centre character and identity with creative installations.
This feedback informed the Final Improvement Plan, which was released in early 2021 and can be downloaded from the Ashgrove West Village Precinct Project page on Council's website.
Construction commenced during February 2021 and is scheduled to be completed by early 2022, subject to weather and site conditions. Council will consult with business owners and operators near the construction areas to ensure minimal disruption occurs during construction.
