Why is Council undertaking this project?
Abbeville Park is planned to be upgraded from a Local general recreation park to a Local General outdoor sport and District General recreation park. Park features typical for this type of park upgrade include improved/new features such as seating, picnic areas, rubbish bins, toilets, car parking, informal sport, recreation and leisure facilities, accessible pathways, and planting for shade.
Council intends to develop a concept plan for Abbeville Park upgrade which will guide planning for the future recreation needs of the growing Upper Mt Gravatt community.
Is the community garden going to be impacted?
The community garden is a well-loved feature of the Abbeville Street Park and will not be impacted by future park upgrades.
Will a pump track be included in the scope of this project?
Macgregor Ward Office previously sought local community feedback on a potential pump track at Abbeville Street Park but this feature is not proposed for this project.
