Abbeville Park is scheduled for an upgrade from a Local general recreation park to a Local Outdoor Sports and District general recreation park.

This means that planning for future improvements to Abbeville Park have commenced. Park features comparable with this type of park classification upgrade could include things like improved/new park infrastructure (e.g. seating, picnic area, toilets, car parking), informal recreation and playground features, accessible pathways and shade.

Council intends to develop a concept plan for Abbeville Park upgrade which will guide planning for future delivery of recreation infrastructure for the growing Upper Mount Gravatt community.

Potential opportunities for the park upgrade include:

• more trees for shade
• an accessible connecting pathway
• amenities block
• additional picnic seating and shelter
• upgrades to existing play facilities
• fitness or sporting provisions
• formalise some car parking options.

NOTE: there will be no change to the existing community garden.
