Brisbane City Council is testing creative ideas with the community that make neighbourhood centres great places to visit, with more for you to do and see. BNE Local and Liveable projects enhance local identity and improve neighbourhoods using short-term, low cost and scalable actions.
Nundah Village project
To kick-start BNE Local and Liveable projects in mid-2021, we tested activation ideas in Nundah Village.
To identify potential activation ideas and help shape the development of an initial site plan, Council undertook a site assessment to understand opportunities and constraints, and consulted with local residents, community groups and businesses. Council also considered previous local planning outcomes including the reviewed Nundah Destination Plan, and the Toombul Nundah Neighbourhood Plan.
In this first season of BNE Local and Liveable, Council is testing a variety of pre-designed or customised streetscape elements. For the Nundah Village project, an additional dimension was added with digital and interactive experiences.
After an initial 8-week installation period, Council invited community feedback on the temporary activation ideas in Nundah Village through an online survey during June-August 2021.

The project area is focused on Station and Aspinall streets. This location will help to connect the Nundah Village - a busy pedestrian route between Sandgate Road and the Nundah train station.
The project focus area also brings attention to several new tenancies in the area and the new Suburban Business Hub - an important economic development initiative.
