Brisbane City Council completed improvements at Sandgate Road, Boondall Village Precinct in mid-2023.
Consultation on the delivered improvements closed on 30 July 2023. Thank you to all who provided feedback.
As part of the Village Precinct Projects (VPP) program, Council invested $1.13 million to revitalise the neighbourhood shopping precinct on Sandgate Road, Boondall.
Improvements delivered
Consultation with the local community during 2021 and 2022 identified opportunities for this precinct. Based on this feedback, the project delivered the following improvements by mid-2023.
- Upgraded footpath with exposed aggregate concrete, making the area easier to move about, easier to maintain and enhance the appearance of the area.
- Improved pedestrian access, accessibility and safety. These improvements included realigned footpaths, stairs and balustrades, upgraded kerbs and new tactile ground surface indicators.
- Street greening including street tree planting to improve the appearance of the neighbourhood centre and create more shade.
- New plants to new and existing garden beds.
- Installation of new seating areas and street furniture, including bike racks and rubbish bins.
- Installation of creative features to improve the appearance of the precinct, including balustrading with decorative panelling and creative pavement pattern finish celebrating the local character and natural environment.
