New Farm Park Compost Hub
The relaunch of the New Farm community compost hub took place on Sunday 2nd April. The existing bins and maturing bay was replaced with wheelie bins in a specifically designed bin enclosure. The organic matter will be taken to NuGrow’s composting facility and we will be purchasing the finished compost back to be used in New Farm’s gardens. This is a three month trial that will determine the viability of the new infrastructure and service arrangements in terms of their ability to successfully divert food waste from landfill with little contamination.
We will be measuring the volume of food waste collected over the trial period as well as gathering the data and feedback from residents in order to determine if any improvements need to be implemented.
