Project update: September 2026, Final Concept Plan release

Brisbane City Council is creating more to see and do in a city that's clean and green by upgrading the Dorrington Park 'Enchanted Forest' playground in Ashgrove, and we can now share the final concept plan.

Delivering improvements to the playground is one of the ways Council is building an active and healthy city and responding to a growing and changing Brisbane.

The Dorrington Park Playground has been a wonder for families for almost 20 years and is due for renewal. This upgrade will bring the magic back to the Enchanted Forest with new themed play experiences designed to provide more opportunities for imaginative play and adventure.

We identified opportunities to refresh the existing playground and introduce new play spaces and experiences through a series of themed realms, outlined in the draft concept plan.

In October 2025, we asked the community for feedback on the draft concept plan through an online survey and two information kiosks held at Dorrington Park. Community feedback helped us understand what people value most about the playground and how it can continue to be a unique destination for local families. The community's feedback was considered alongside technical investigations and Council requirements to help shape the final concept plan for the playground upgrade.
