What is a draft concept plan?

    A draft concept plan is the first version of a big picture ideas plan developed to support community engagement and help the community provide feedback on proposed works or new features. The purpose of a draft concept plan is to provide a visual aid to communicate early ideas and what may be possible.

    A draft concept plan or a concept plan does not include specific design detail such as the style and exact placement of infrastructure, or things like the final plant selection. This detail will be determined later. A lot can change between a concept plan and the construction of the park.

    What is Pickleball?

    Pickleball is a paddle ball sport which uses wooden paddleboards and follows five basic rules (similar to tennis). 

    While resembling tennis and table tennis, it uses a plastic wiffle ball and the court dimensions, rules and equipment make it easy and enjoyable to play for people of all skill levels, age groups and gender.

    Will the carpark change in any way?

    At this stage, no significant changes to the carpark are planned. Council believes that the existing carpark can accommodate the users of the new park facilities, but a few People With Disability (PWD) parking spaces will need to be created.

    Can we have a dog park?

    Council needs to accommodate recreation and sport facilities and protect habitat areas in Ellen Grove District Park. There is not enough space to include a dog off-leash area that is large enough to be of much value. Dogs can be walked in the park on a leash.

    Will there be toilets?

    Public amenities, including disabled toilets are park of the standard embellishments for a district park. An Accessible Adult Change Facility will be included in the clubhouse and available to users of the sport courts as well as playground visitors. 

    What's happening at Waterford Rd Park?

    Waterford Rd Park is a nature recreation park with a focus on providing habitat for local wildlife. Given this, only accessible paths are proposed through the park.
