FAQs
What area of Keating Park does this project focus on?
The design will consider the whole of park, west of Underhill Avenue. The project will not focus on the small eastern section of the park which houses the war memorial.
What is a draft concept plan?
A draft concept plan is a big picture, ideas plan developed to support community engagement and help the community provide feedback on proposed works or new features. The purpose of a draft concept plan is to provide a visual aid to give the community a better picture of what may be possible.
How will we maintain the park's relaxed, community feel?
We’re focusing on creating comfortable, flexible spaces, like shaded seating, informal play and open grass areas so the park continues to feel welcoming and easy to use for everyday activities like catching up with friends or spending time with family.
What site constraints have informed the proposed concept plan?
We’re working within a number of site constraints, including mature trees, drainage, existing infrastructure and overland flow areas, and parts of the park that can flood during heavy rain. These factors guide where we can safely and sustainably locate new features.
How are we considering the surrounding area and nearby facilities?
We’re designing the park to continue supporting nearby community facilities like the Indooroopilly Activity Hub, Men's Shed and war memorial, while also being mindful of surrounding homes and the nearby shopping centre. Our aim is to balance access, safety and amenity for everyone.
How are different park users being considered?
We know the park is used in lots of different ways, from play and exercise to relaxing and socialising. The draft concept plan provides a mix of flexible, low-impact spaces so different groups can comfortably share the park.
How will accessibility be improved?
We’re proposing improved pathways, accessible amenities and inclusive playground elements to make it easier for people of different ages and abilities to move through and enjoy the park, while also strengthening connections to surrounding streets and facilities.
