Consultation for the Lumley Street, Upper Mt Gravatt Village Precinct - project completion has now closed.  Thank you to everyone who provided feedback.

As part of the Village Precinct Projects (VPP) program and Brisbane City Council’s commitment to create a city of vibrant neighbourhoods, the $716,000 streetscape improvement project to revitalise the Lumley Street, Upper Mt Gravatt neighbourhood shopping precinct, has now been completed.

Council worked with the local community to revitalise the Lumley Street, Upper Mt Gravatt neighbourhood shopping precinct, delivering an attractive, comfortable and connected centre for locals and visitors to use and enjoy.

Community input 

Your feedback highlighted key areas for improvement including:

  • footpath upgrades
  • improved accessibility in and around the site
  • trees, landscaping and native planting
  • more seating areas and street furniture (to support active transport options) and
  • creating of a more family friendly atmosphere.

Delivered improvements

Improvements included:

  • upgrading the existing footpath to a consistent broom finish concrete pavement to improve accessibility, maintenance and amenity.
  • improved accessibility in and around the site with;
    • installation of tactile ground surface indicators
    • upgraded Telstra phone box
    • new on street disabled parking bay with kerb ramps and
    • improvement to pedestrian access points into the centre.
  • street greening including new garden bed and tree planting.
  • new custom designed timber and concrete seats and the installation of standard Council street furniture including bench seat, bins and bike racks.
  • creative placemaking elements with catenary lighting and streetbond outcome to select areas of footpath for the community and visitors to enjoy.
