My link to Mowbray Park
i attended Mowbray Presbyterian Church from a very young age, The Sunday school had their annual picnic at Mowbray Park And we marched from the Church to the Park every year.
The scout den was located close to the river at the city end and was in the Cubs for two years, All of our sessions were carried out in the Park. Unfortunately the den is no longer there.
CEGS had theit boat shed at the Norman Park end with a floating platform being a great place to fish. I was on the platform one time and a mullet jumped from the river onto the platform.
Fishing from the jetty was an enjoyable past time particularly in the perch season with many fish caught.
It was devastating recently to see the front of the park cut off for widening of the road. The soldier memorial and canon has been located in several locations in the Park.

Being a Heritage place of such great significance and history I am disappointed that it is continually changed without any great thought to the number of people who have enjoyed and grown up in the Park.
