Consultation on the Mt Gravatt Outlook Reserve draft concept plans closed on 23 June 2023. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback.
In November 2022, Council invited the community to have their say and provide input to help Council prepare a draft concept plan for Mt Gravatt Outlook Reserve, to guide how the natural values of the reserve can be protected into the future, while reflecting the importance of the reserve as a much-loved destination for recreation and relaxation.
You told us that some of your top priorities are:
caring for the natural environment
traffic management and improved parking
being able to enjoy the views at the summit e.g. through new seating
upgrading facilities – such as picnic shelters and upgraded walking trails
signage – for navigation around the reserve and interpretation of the environment.
Your input helped Council to prepare two draft concept plans for further community consultation. One draft concept plan considers the overall reserve and the second focuses on proposed upgrades at the summit.
Caring for the natural environment has been a top priority throughout the planning process. The concept planning phase has considered potential safety improvements to the road, and has identified the opportunity for additional parking bays, around the reserve and at the summit. Proposed upgrades at the summit include terraced seating and picnic shelters where the community can enjoy the views, as well as new footpaths. A signage plan will be considered in future planning.
In June 2023, Council invited you to share your feedback about the draft concept plans. This consultation has now closed. Your feedback will be considered, along with technical investigations and Council requirements, to inform the final concept plans.
