Secondary routes are that provide links from suburban destinations to primary routes.
What is a Walking Network Plan?
Walking Network Plans are part of Council’s plan to achieve our vision of a sustainable and connected Brisbane.
Walking Network Plans identify how everyday destinations can be better connected by comfortable, safe and accessible routes to inform planning. The plans are also supported by future works programs to enhance walkability in the area.
Walking Network Plans are maps that show the primary and secondary walking routes that connect key destinations in a 2 kilometre precinct around a central hub. In this case, the central hub is around the Aspley Hypermarket and bus station.
How do Walking Network Plans work?
Walking Network Plans identify primary and secondary walking routes to the destinations you visit everyday.
Knowing these routes help guide future planning and investment.
Why are Walking Network Plans important?
Walking Network plans are important because they show the main routes people walk on a daily basis to get where they want to go in their neighbourhoods.
By knowing these main routes, also known as primary and secondary routes, Council is better able to focus future planning and investment to the opportunities and areas that the local community uses most, providing maximum value for money.
What if I want to report an urgent safety hazard?
If you see damaged infrastructure that poses and imminent risk to the community, please call Council on 3403 8888 to report the risk and a Council will respond promptly.
What’s next?
Council will review your feedback and finalise the Aspley Walking Network Plan.
The Walking Network Plan will join Council’s suite of tools and data to inform future planning and investment across our city.
Future projects in the area will be subject to budget availability and city-wide priorities.
