This community engagement is now closed. Thank you to everyone who provided feedback.

Brisbane City Council is creating a Suburban Renewal Precinct Plan for Wynnum centre to guide building, development and employment growth in the future.

Council is working with the local community and businesses to prepare a precinct plan that addresses four main themes:

  • Housing choice: We need more homes for every type of household (single people, couples, multigenerational families, couples or single people with children). We’ll enable this by reviewing building heights and zoning to allow for more homes.
  • Vibrant village: We want to create more to see and do by updating City Plan requirements to support the revitalisation of public spaces, facilities and services in addition to boosting local retail, dining and business opportunities.
  • Subtropical lifestyleWe can celebrate our outdoor lifestyle with building design and public spaces that include shade and greenery and is suitable for our subtropical climate.
  • Connecting people and places: We can maximise our public and active transport networks and make it easier to walk and ride recreationally or commute between work and home.

Have your say

Council has now closed the initial stage of community engagement and would like to thank everyone who participated and provided their input into the project. Council will use this input to help prepare the draft Wynnum Centre Suburban Renewal Precinct Plan.

Once the draft precinct plan is prepared, the community will again be invited to have their say.
