What is a draft concept plan?

A draft concept plan is the first version of a big picture, ideas plan developed to support community engagement and help the community provide feedback on proposed works or new features. The purpose of a draft concept plan is to provide a visual aid to communicate early ideas and what may be possible.

A draft concept plan or a concept plan does not include specific design detail such as the style and exact placement of infrastructure or things like the final plant species selection. This detail will be determined later. A lot can change between a concept plan and the construction of the parkland improvements.

How was the draft concept plan created?

The draft concept plan was created by Council after community consultation earlier this year where residents shared their thoughts and ideas about what should be considered.

When will the concept plan be finalised?

Council will finalise the concept plan in early 2024 and then commence exploring implementation options in line with budget priorities to deliver the improvements within the concept plan.

How does the draft concept plan improve flooding for Brighton residents?

The draft concept plan proposes some measures within the parkland to try to deflect the sea water from overtopping the wall and impacting the parkland and street. Measures to protect private properties in Brighton are being considered as part of Brighton Creek Catchment flood study. For more information go to Flood Study - Brighton Creek.
