Give old threads new life at Give a Sheet® for the Planet event
It's Spring cleaning season! Time to clean our your linen closet and attend one of our free events.
We are excited to let you know that on the weekend we held our first of three drive-through textile recycling events and we had enormous success.
.
Brisbane City Council is partnering with BlockTexx, a QLD based end of life textile recycling company to provide residents with the opportunity to divert their end of life linens from landfill. These valuable textiles are recycled into raw materials to be re manufactured and used in other industries such as hydro mulch at the Sydney Airport.
Unfortunately due to fast fashion a lot of our clothing and textiles are made up of synthetic fibres which makes them hard to recycle, BlockTexx have developed a new process which can separate the polyester and cotton fibres and turn them into sustainable products.
There are another two upcoming events at Karawatha on 9th September and Boondall on 21st October so don't miss this amazing opportunity to give your old threads a new life.
