I own property within the study area. How will the street parking around my property be affected?

Regulated Parking Permit Schemes help to manage high demand for on-street parking and can improve opportunities for residents and their visitors to obtain parking. Regulated Parking Permit Schemes do not however guarantee parking availability. Residents and their visitors are exempt from parking time limits that indicate “RESIDENT PERMIT EXCEPTED” or “PERMIT EXCEPTED”, provided the vehicle has a valid permit.

Permits for the proposed Greenslopes Parking Study Area would be capped at one Resident Parking Permit and one Visitor Parking Permit per household to ensure the effectiveness of the scheme.

How much does a parking permit cost?

Resident Parking Permits and Visitor Parking Permits currently cost $16.25 each, per year.

How do I apply for a Resident Parking Permit?

Council offers a range of accessible ways for eligible residents to apply for or renew a permit through the digital parking permit system.

You can apply or renew parking permits online, by email, phone or post, or in-person. Click here to find out more.

I’m hosting an event from home – can my guests access street parking?

Residents who are expecting guests (e.g. for a private function) can apply for short-term Visitor Parking Permits 14 days prior to the event to allow for permits to be issued.

I work at the Greenslopes Private Hospital. How will this change parking around the hospital?

On-street parking within the Greenslopes Parking Study Area would be subject to three-hour time limited parking conditions. The location of the new parking conditions will be determined based on a review of community feedback provided during the consultation period (Monday 8 August to Friday 2 September 2022). Greenslopes Private Hospital provides off-street parking options as well as parking options for staff. The hospital is also well connected to public transport, with a shuttle service operated by the hospital providing a connection to the Greenslopes Busway Station.

How will this change street parking around the Greenslopes State School?

On-street parking within the Greenslopes Parking Study Area will be subject to three-hour time limited parking restrictions. The location of the parking conditions will be determined based on a review of community feedback provided during the consultation period (Monday 8 August to Friday 2 September 2022).

How is Council engaging the community on this proposal?

Council has notified all residents and stakeholders within the Greenslopes Parking Study Area of the community consultation period for the Greenslopes Parking Study by letterbox drop.

How will Council decide on implementation of the proposed scheme?

The specific design of the Regulated Parking Permit Scheme, if supported, will be subject to further assessments by Council and a comprehensive review of community feedback.

What is the timeline for the study?

The online survey will close at 11:59pm on Friday 2 September 2022. Council will then consider community feedback before deciding whether to implement the proposed scheme.

How will I be informed as the project progresses?

Council will continue to keep the community updated as the project progresses. When the engagement period closes, Council will inform stakeholders and advise next steps via letterbox drop and Council's website.
