Consultation on the Martha Street Village Precinct Project has now concluded. Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback.
Brisbane City Council through the Village Precinct program, completed a $1 million streetscape improvement project to revitalise the Martha Street, Camp Hill neighbourhood shopping precinct.
Council worked with the local community to revitalise the precinct and is now inviting community to provide feedback on the improvements.
Your feedback
When the community was asked: ‘What do you think could be improved in the Martha Street centre precinct?’ your responses highlighted key areas for improvement including:
traffic safety and pedestrian access
landscaping, footpath upgrades and street furniture for streetscape amenity, and
improved parking conditions throughout the centre.
Local business owners also requested that Council explore potential creative placemaking and lighting opportunities to help unify the centre.
Delivered improvements
Improvements include:
upgrading of the footpath pavers to exposed aggregate concrete to improve accessibility, maintenance and amenity
intersection upgrades and relocated Newman Avenue pedestrian crossing to improve safety and accessibility
marked parking bays and consolidated loading zone to improve accessibility
street greening including street tree planting to improve visual and physical amenity, and limit the urban heat island effect
groundcover plantings to new and existing garden beds
inclusion of new unique seating and standard Council street furniture
creative public art installation for the community and visitors to enjoy.
