Brisbane is one of Australia’s fastest-growing capital cities and Council is working with communities to help deliver new homes sooner, while protecting the lifestyle that makes our city so special. Learn more about suburban renewal precincts.
Completed: Sandgate District Neighbourhood Plan (2023)
In 2023, the Sandgate District Neighbourhood Plan was adopted and became part of Brisbane City Plan 2014 (City Plan), following Queensland Government approval. The plan introduced local planning scheme amendments to guide and assess future development across Sandgate, Deagon, Shorncliffe and Brighton.
The final plan was informed by community input and technical assessments. Council developed the draft plan using feedback on an earlier draft strategy, incorporating changes to address community priorities. It was initially considered by Council in December 2020 before review by the Queensland Government.
A revised draft, incorporating state requirements, was released for public consultation from 10 May to 21 June 2021. Submissions were reviewed and considered in finalising the plan for Queensland Government approval.
