Master Composting Course

Just finished the 2 full days of workshops for the Master Composter Course last weekend. Now starting my journey of completing my volunteer hours over the next 12 months. I learnt so much from the presenters as well as the other participants and what a great way to meet other composters and share experiences and knowledge.

I'm looking forward to putting new found knowledge into action and making new connections in my local area (Bridgeman Downs) in the coming months.

@HeidiM @Nook there are 3 compost hubs closest to you on the Northside - 1. Fitzgibbon community Garden (a large friendly garden), 2. Kingfisher Recycling Centre (this is connected with Aspley Special School. There is no community garden there, just the compost hub and a range of other recycling initiatives) and 3. Downfall Creek Bushland Centre (this is one Council's Environment Centres and hosts a range of great activities). However you can also use your volunteer hours at other sites if you would prefer. For example the Green P Farm located on the grounds of the Deagon Race Course has a great compost program or you could also sign up with Sharewaste (https://sharewaste.com/share-waste ) and start collecting the scraps from your neighbourhood. @Nook  Yes, I met you briefly Nook.  I haven't found a local Community Garden near me yet. I have filled in a Volunteer application at Downfall Creek  through the BCC website. I am keen to hear where they all are near me. Fitzgibbon is close but I haven't been there yet. Perhaps the moderators here could provide some suggestions near the postcode 4035 ? Thank you so much !

Hi Heidi, wow! we were in the same 2 days composter workshop. Would you mind sharing where is your local community garden? Is it Fitzgibbon Community garden? I am thinking to visit them on Sunday. Thank you :)
